FPC Upgrade Fails On Windows Server 2016

Product: ProfileUnity-FlexApp

Product Version: 6.5.9

Expires on: 365 days from publish date

Updated: January 30, 2017

Problem:

When attempting to upgrade the FlexApp Packaging Console (FPC) on Windows Server 2016, the process fails to resume after the reboot, displaying the error “This installation package could not be be opened”.

Symptoms:

You may see this during upgrade.

Possible Resolution(s):

This issue occurs when a User attempts to run the FPC upgrade as a Local Admin.  Windows Server 2016 will use an unexpected temporary location in order to perform the upgrade, which the installer is unable to locate after the reboot has taken place.  To workaround this issue, a User can:

  1. Run the upgrade as a Domain Admin.

OR

  1. Uninstall the current version of FPC first, then install the latest FPC version.

OR

  1. Run the upgrade as a Local Admin, Press OK to the error when it is thrown, then run the FPC installer once more to complete the upgrade

Note:  This will be resolved in a future version of FPC.
