Problem:

Error Message during logon: “Unable to Launch ProfileUnity Process!

Symptoms:

Various GPO’s applying.

 Event ID 865 – Software Restriction Policy Notification

"Access to C:\Program Files\ProfileUnity\client.exe has been restricted by your Administrator by the default software restriction policy level."

Possible Resolution(s):

 Your software restriction policy is blocking client.exe from executing.

  1. Open your GPO which is used to deploy “Software Restriction Policy” and add “C:\Program Files\ProfileUnity\client.exe to “Unrestricted”
  2. User Configuration>Policies>Windows Settigns>Security Settings>Software Restriction Policies> Additional Restrictions
  3. (Add “New Path Rule) - Select "Unrestricted"
    • C:\Program Files\ProfileUnity\client.exe
    • \\<Domain.com>\NETLOGON\ProfileUnity
    • \\<Domain.com>\NETLOGON\ProfileUnity\client.exe

Save,  Log Off user, Restart the system where you get the error message or recompose.
