Problem:

Windows 7 gadgets aren't being captured.

Symptoms:

Gadgets that are part of Windows 7 can be created on a user's desktop, but they don't move with the user when the user moves from machine to machine.

Possible Resolution(s):

These settings are stored in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Settings.ini, so you need to be sure you're capturing this file.  If you have folder redirection enabled for AppData\Local then this file will be captured as part of the folder redirection.  But if you're not redirecting Local AppData then you need to create and enable a custom portability ruleset to capture and replay this file.

To create a custom portability ruleset:

1. Go to Portability Management and click the red create button

2. Create your new ruleset with these settings

Name: Gadgets
Filesystem Rules: Merge   Local AppData   Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Settings.ini

3. Click Save

Then go to Configuration Management and Edit your configuration.  Under Portability settings, enable this ruleset.
