Problem:

Sometimes it is necessary to exclude folders or files from being captured during logoff

Symptoms:

Unnecessary files and folders in Portability.7z

Possible Resolution(s):

For example to exclude a folder or a file from "Program Group" Portability Ruleset:

Step 1) Find the name of the .7z file by editing "Portability Setting" Rule (The UID is the name of the ".7z" file)

Example:

Portability_Settings_Program_Group.jpg

Step 2) Open "ProgramGroup.7z" with 7zip or other application.

Example:

ProgramGroup.jpg

Step 3) Find the "Directory" or "File" that needs to be excluded

Example:

startup.jpg

Step 4) Edit "Program Group" Portability Ruleset and add exclusions. Examples:

Option A) To Exclude Folder "Startup" (Operation: Exclude, Folder: Program Group, Path: Startup)

Example:

Startup2.jpg

Option B) To Exclude File "desktop.ini" (Operation: Exclude, Folder: Program Group, Path: desktop.ini)

Example:

Desktop.ini.jpg

Option C) To Exclude "Startup\desktop.ini" (Operation: Exclude, Folder: Program Group, Path: Startup\desktop.ini)

Example:

Desktop.ini3.jpg

Option D) To Exclude all 3 together:

Example:

All.jpg

Note: Multiple files or folders could be part of same Ruleset

Step 5) Save and download the "Default.ini" to netlogon\ProfileUnity directory.

Step 6) User must log in and logoff for the change to take place.
