Where To Find ProfileUnity Logs

This document details where to find logs in versions of ProfileUnity, versions 6.0 and newer.

 

Note: Some of the logs are set to "Fatal" or "Emergency" level logging and need to be changed to Debug mode to yield more logging data. 

  • Fatal - Only logs fatal errors
  • Emergency - Only logs emergency errors
  • Debug - Logs all possible data

 

ProfileUnity Client logs:

Client log - (Default: Fatal logging mode) - Used to troubleshoot portability.

%temp%\ProfileUnity\client_Portability_%domain%_%username%_%date%_%time%.log

To change the logging mode to Debug, modify "C:\Program Files\ProfileUnity\Client.NET\LwL.ProfileUnity.Client.exe.config, following this

 Service Manager log - (Default: Debug logging mode) - Used to troubleshoot printer spooler restart issues

%temp%\ProfileUnity\servicemanager_%domain%_%username%_%date%_%time%.log

 

ProfileUnity Services logs:

Liquidware Labs Profile Service - (Default: Debug logging mode)

%systemroot%\Temp\ProfileUnity\*date%%time%_lwl_profile_service.log

 

Liquidware Labs UIA Service - (Default: Debug logging mode)

%systemroot%\Temp\ProfileUnity\*date%%time%_lwl_userapp_service.log

 

Liquidware Labs Elevation Service - (Default: Debug logging mode)

%systemroot%\Temp\ProfileUnity\*date%%time%_lwl_elevation_service.log

 

Liquidware Labs Command Service - (Default: Fatal logging mode) - Used for logging information on custom triggers

%systemroot%\Temp\ProfileUnity\cmdservice_%domain%_SYSTEM_*date%%time%_<Random#>.log

Note: Modify "C:\Program Files\ProfileUnity\Client.net\LwL.ProfileUnity.Client.CmdService.exe.config" to change to "Debug" logging mode.

 

Elevation logs:

Liquidware Labs Elevation Service - (Default - Debug logging mode)

%systemroot%\Temp\ProfileUnity\*date%%time%_lwl_elevation_service.log

 

FlexApp Trigger log - (Default - Debug logging mode) - Used to troubleshoot elevation of client.exe and printer spooler restart.

%temp%\ProfileUnity\lwl_userapp_trigger.log

 

FlexApp UIA logs:

User App Player log - (Default - Emergency logging mode) - Used to troubleshoot application playback issues.

B:\logs\*date%%time%_lwl_userapp_player.log (FlexApp disk)

 

UIA VHD log -  (Default - Emergency logging mode) - Used to troubleshoot UIA VHD creation issues.

%temp%\FlexAppLog\*date%%time%_vhd.log

 

Note: To change UIA/VHD logging to "Debug" go to ProfileUnity Console, "Main" section, change from "Emergency" to "Debug" Look here.

Note: To change FlexApp userapp log to "Debug" go to ProfileUnity Console, "Main" section, change from "Emergency" to "Debug" Look here

Profile VHD logs:

VHD log -  (Default - Emergency logging mode) - Used to troubleshoot profile vhd creation issues.

A) If FlexApp UIA drive (B:)  is present:

B:\logs\*date%%time%_vhd.log

B) if NO FlexApp UIA drive (B:) is present

%temp%\FlexAppLog\*date%%time%_vhd.log

Note: To change UIA/VHD logging to "Debug" go to ProfileUnity Console, "Main" section, change from "Emergency" to "Debug" Look here.

FlexApp DIA logs:

FlexApp DIA Mount location - C:\Windows\Temp\FlexAppDIA\Forward

FlexApp DIA delta vhd - %temp%\FlexApp-DIA

FlexApp DIA UserApp Player logs:

A) If FlexApp UIA drive (B:)  is present:

B:\logs\*date%%time%_lwl_userapp_player.log (FlexApp disk)

B) if NO FlexApp UIA drive (B:) is present

ProfileUnity 6.04 and earlier: %systemroot%\Temp\ProfileUnity\*date%%time%_lwl_userapp_player.log 

ProfileUnity 6.5+: %temp% (C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp)

Note: To change DIA logging to "Debug" go to ProfileUnity Console, "Main" section, change from "Emergency" to "Debug" Look here.

Note: To change FlexApp userapp log to "Debug" go to ProfileUnity Console, "Main" section, change from "Emergency" to "Debug" Look here

 

FlexApp Packaging Console (FPC) Logs:

6.0 and older: C:\Program Files\Liquidware Labs\FlexApp Packaging Console\logs

6.5: %temp%\fpc

Note: The FPC is always in "Debug" mode

 

ProfileUnity (Web) Console logs:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Liquidware Labs\ProfileUnity\logs

Note: To change to "Debug" logging go to: "Administration" page inside ProfileUnity Console and change setting to "Debug" click Update. Look here.

 

ProfileUnity Startup.exe logs:

"LwL.ProfileUnity.Client.Startup.exe" log -  (Default - Fatal logging mode) - Used to troubleshoot client installation issues (rare)

C:\Windows\Temp\ProfileUnity

 

ProfileUnity Logoff.exe logs:

"LwL.ProfileUnity.Client.Logoff.exe" log -  (Default - Fatal logging mode) - Used to troubleshoot client installation issues (rare)

%temp%\ProfileUnity

 

Note: To change debug level from Fatal to Debug modify "LwL.ProfileUnity.Client.Startup.exe.config" and change value "Fatal" to "Debug"

 

ProfileUnity web console logs

C:\Program Files (x86)\Liquidware Labs\ProfileUnity.NET\logs

Web console also has other related logs shown below.

 

FlexDisk

C:\Program Files (x86)\Liquidware Labs\ProfileUnity\FlexDisk\flexdisk.log

 

MongoDB
