FlexApp DIA applications are not playing back after ProfileUnity upgrade

FlexApp Packaging Console does not play back previously captured msi packages.

MSI Application packages installed using FlexApp packaging console did not create a database file inside application.vhd file. This is a result of faulty capture process. Beginning with ProfileUnity 5.6 database file is required for correct playback (faulty packages will not play back). The database holds uninstallation information of the application. With earlier versions of ProfileUnity (5.5) DIA MSI applications were functional (allowed playback of faulty packages) because it did not require database file for playback. Since ProfileUnity 5.6 it is not the case anymore.

Possible Resolution:

Option A.

Because of a problem with capturing MSI packages in earlier and current version of ProfileUnity (FPC 1.2) the msi packages have to be re-captured using following information to allow playback in the ProfileUnity 5.6 or later:

Open FlexApp Packaging Console ver. 1.2

Installer Location:   C:\windows\system32\msiexec.exe

Options:   /I \\<localpath>\<filename>.msi

Note: Its required to place .msi file on local drive/directory before capture. Example: C:\Package

Option B.

Upgrade to newer version of ProfileUnity when it becomes available to address correct capture process. The fixed version of ProfileUnity will not require special options when capturing msi package. Please check release notes of each ProfileUnity release for more information.

Note: The playback without database file in the root of the VHD (From bad application capture) will NOT be fixed, the applications have to be recaptured (Option A or B) for proper playback.
