Problem:

During migration from Windows XP to windows 7 the sound schema is not ported over

The sound files are not moved over to windows 7 and are missing.

Symptoms:

The registry is copied over correctly like it should by "Windows Appearance" ruleset. The registry location which hold this information is:

"HKCU\AppEvents"

Windows XP sound file location is:

"C:\Windows\Media"

Possible Resolution(s):

Create Portability Ruleset and Portability Setting which would capture and restore .wav files between windows XP and windows 7.

Step 1) Create Portability ruleset:

Open ProfileUnity Console>Portability Management>Create New Portability Ruleset:

Name: Windows Sounds

Filesystem Rules: Merge    System Root      media\*.wav

Save

Example:

Step 2) Create Portability setting:

Open ProfileUnity Console>Edit Configuration>Portability Settings>Add Portability Setting Rule

Filter: No Filter

Actions: Save and Restore

Ruleset: Windows Sounds

Apply Filesystem Rules

Only Apply to Local Shell Folders

Save path: <usersharepath>\Portability

UID: WindowsSounds1234

Example:

Save, Update, Download the .ini to netlogon\profileunity directory.
