Internet Explorer is closing (crashing) immediately after its opened

Problem:

After user logs in to desktop and opens Internet Explorer 10 or Internet Explorer 11 it immediately closes.

No Windows Event Viewer messages.

 

Symptoms:

The Desktops are non-persistent

"Active Setup" or "Active Setup 5.6" Portability ruleset is used in the configuration.

 

Possible Resolution(s): 

Open ProfileUnity Console go to "Portability Management" Edit "Active Setup" or "Active Setup 5.6" (the ruleset used in your configuration)

In "Registry Rules" Add:

  • Operation: Exclude
  • Scope: Tree
  • Hive: HKCU
  • Path: Software\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}

Save and download Configuration to netlogon\profileunity directory.

Note: It may require 2 subsequent logons before this change will take effect.
