Google Chrome settings are not saving

Product: ProfileUnity

Problem:

Google settings for my users are not saving

Symptoms:

I am using folder redirection for Local Application Data

My Local Application Data is redirected to UNC path or not redirected at all.

Example: \\server\share\%username%\AppData\Local

Possible Resolution:

Google Chrome and many other applications are not compatible when Application Data is redirected to UNC path.

The data is saved in: "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Google"

Option 1) - Redirection

Look at this KB for more information about Redirection and Chrome

Option 2) - Portability

Disable folder redirection of Local Application Data

Enable Portability of Local Application Data using Portability settings.

Example:

1) Create a "Google" Ruleset in "Portability Management"

Capture this registry:

    • Merge Tree HKCU software\google

Capture those directories:

    • Merge User Profile\AppData\Local\google\Chrome\User Data\Default
    • Exclude User Profile\AppData\Local\google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cache
    • Exclude User Profile\AppData\Local\google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Media Cache
    • Merge User Profile\AppData\Local\google\Chrome\User Data\*First Run*
    • Exclude User Profile\AppData\Local\google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Application Cache\Cache
    • Exclude User Profile\AppData\Local\google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Storage\ext\chrome-signin\def\Cache
    • Exclude User Profile\AppData\Local\google\Chrome\User Data\Default\GPUCache
    • Exclude User Profile\AppData\Local\google\Chrome\User Data\Default\ChromeDWriteFontCache*

2) Create a "Portability Settings" rule in configuration to save "Google" ruleset.

Option 3) - ProfileDisk

Use User's "ProfileDisk" (Only for ProfileUnity 6.5.x or later)
