After Automatic Update From 6.0 Update 1 to 6.0 Update 2 on a Windows 2012 Server, Web Console is Unavailable and Web Service Is Uninstalled

Product: ProfileUnity

Product Version: 6.0 U1 upgrading to 6.0 U2 on Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 servers

Expires on: 365 days from publish date

Updated: October 29, 2014

Problem:

Automatic update was selected from the menu instead of a manual installation.

The ProfileUnity console prompts for an update any time a new version is detected. The dialog box that appears prompts Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 users to perform a manual update. If the 'Update' button is clicked, an automatic update is performed.

Symptoms:

After the automatic update is performed, the console becomes unavailable and the ProfileUnity Web Services API service no longer shows in Services.

Possible Resolution:

In Control Panel, open Programs and Features, select ProfileUnity, and click Repair. After the repair is performed, the console will be available again after a few minutes and the ProfileUnity Web Services API service will show as installed in Services.
