"FATAL - Invalid archive" entry in logon client log

Problem:

Settings are not restoring or portability files are not updated because of logon error.

 

Symptoms:

Logon error in client log found in %temp% directory:

2014-06-27 09:20:16 [1] FATAL - Invalid archive: open/read error! Is it encrypted and a wrong password was provided?
If your archive is an exotic one, it is possible that SevenZipSharp has no signature for its format and thus decided it is TAR by mistake.

 

Possible Resolution:

Step 1) Enable enhanced (Debug) logging and run c:\program files\profile unity\userinit.exe

Step 2) Open client logon log located in %temp% directory. Now the log has more data.

Step 3) Find archive name in the log which is causing this error.

Example:

2014-06-27 09:20:16 [1] DEBUG - archiveFile i:\profileunity\portability\WindowsE2280cc8.7z

Step 4) Try to open archive with 7zip, if its corrupted delete archive

Step 5)

a) Logoff  and login than check client log in %temp% for any errors

b) run "userinit.exe" again and check client log for any errors

Repeat the process (Step 1-5) if necessary.
