Problem:

When using 3rd party products that incorporate their own filter level drivers, the users taskbar/applications might be blank

Resolution:

NOTE: These options apply currently only to the 6.5.2 and above.

FlexApp service needs to be disabled for these environments to work correctly.

"Container Service" will not get installed if you follow the steps below:

To apply fix:

  • If ProfileUnity is installed on the base image and version 6.5.2
  1. Uninstall current installed 6.5.2 client tools from base VM.
  2. Replace 6.5.2 LwL.ProfileUnity.Client.Startup.exe and LwL.ProfileUnity.Client.Startup.exe.config with the attached (should be located in your netlogon\profileunity directory).
  3. Have LwL.ProfileUnity.Client.Startup.exe run again on base VM.
  4. Confirm LWL container service is not an installed service
  5. Recompose your pool.
  6. Restart

  1. Uninstall ProfileUnity on parent, open admin CMD and navigate to share/netlogon where client tools reside and run LwL.ProfileUnity.Client.Startup.exe /uninstall
  2. Then edit LwL.ProfileUnity.Client.Startup.exe.config. It should be located together with other client tools in a netlogon directory (Typically %logonserver%\netlogon\ProfileUnity
  3. Edit the following lines of code

    LwL.ProfileUnity.Client.Startup.exe.config

          <setting name="InstallContainerService" serializeAs="String">

            <value>Start</value>

    to

          <setting name="InstallContainerService" serializeAs="String">

            <value>DontDeploy</value>

  4. Rerun the startup - LwL.ProfileUnity.Client.Startup.exe
  5. Shutdown , snapshot and recompose
  • If ProfileUnity is only installed through GPO
    1. Find and edit LwL.ProfileUnity.Client.Startup.exe.config. It should be located together with other client tools in a netlogon directory (Typically %logonserver%\netlogon\ProfileUnity

    2. Edit the following lines of code

      LwL.ProfileUnity.Client.Startup.exe.config

            <setting name="InstallContainerService" serializeAs="String">

              <value>Start</value>

      to

            <setting name="InstallContainerService" serializeAs="String">

              <value>DontDeploy</value>

    3. Refresh your pool(s)

NOTE: Please make sure to backup your current netlogon/ProfileUnity folder.
