Problem:

Managing Windows 10 First login animation

Symptoms:

Possible Resolution:

With windows 10 on non-persistent and using portability the First Logon Animation may keep coming up.

To manage this you have a few options outlined below

1. You can add this reg key to  base image by adding this value

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]

"EnableFirstLogonAnimation"=dword:00000000

2. Use ProfileUnity registry module and set the key with ProU as a service.  See following article on example of using ProfileUnity as a service

https://liquidwarelabs.zendesk.com/entries/105666083-ProfileUnity-6-5-How-to-setup-separate-ProfileUnity-configuration-ini-to-execute-on-machine-startup

  • Create a blank Configuration
  • Add the following key to registry module
  • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]

    "EnableFirstLogonAnimation"=dword:00000000

  • Save and copy ini to netlogon (or share) in a separate folder under the main ProfileUnity Folder (ie-scripts).
  • Set the ini path to this folder (make sure ProfileUnity license is copied into the folder as well as seen in previous KB for ProfileUnity as a service.

3. You can set this with GPO using the windows 10 ADMX.

For more information see: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48257

4.  This can also be set in GPO with normal reg functions by adding key in Computer GPO section

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]

"EnableFirstLogonAnimation"=dword:00000000

The important note is this key has to exist before the user logs in.
