Problem:

Windows rejects installing ProfileUnity Management Server due to "disk1.cab has an invalid digital signature"

Symptoms:

During ProfileUnity install process, the installer pops up an error stating "a file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file <file path>\disk1.cab has an invalid digital signature.  This may indicate that the cabinet file is corrupt."  Installation is unable to continue.

Resolution:

This issue is caused by your machine not having the proper certificate or certificates to verify our digital signature.  To address this issue, you need to download the proper certificates and import them to your Certificate Manager before performing the installation again.  The certificates required are:

VeriSign Class 3 Public Primary Certification Authority - G5: under Trusted Root Certification Authorities

VeriSign Class 3 Code Signing 2010 CA: under Intermediate Certificate Authorities

You may need to import the missing certificate to the proper logical store.

  1. Run certmgr.msc as administrator.  Identify what certificates are missing.
  2. Download the missing certificate from the attachment below.
  3. Right click on the proper store, and import the certificate.
  4. After the certificate is imported, repeat ProfileUnity Management Console install again.
