During the install/Upgrade of ProfileUnity console the FlexDisk service could not start

Problem:

During the installation/upgrade of ProfileUnity consosole the FlexDisk service will not start.

 

Symptoms:

After installation, when accessing FlexDisk Management there is an Error: "Error retrieving data: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it[::1]:4443"

 

Possible Resolution(s): 

This occurs when the Flex Disk service needs more time to start. The services timeout needs to be changed from 30 to 60 seconds.

Step 1) Export current configuration(s) 

Step 2) Go to Administration tab and backup database

Step 3) Uninstall ProfileUnity console following this KB:

Step 4) Follow Microsoft Event ID 7009 to increase time out:

  1. Click the Start button, then click Run, type regedit, and click OK.
  2. In the Registry Editor, click the registry subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control.
  3. In the details pane, locate the ServicesPipeTimeout entry, right-click that entry and then select Modify.

    Note: If the ServicesPipeTimeout entry does not exist, you must create it by selecting New on the Edit menu, followed by the DWORD Value, then typing ServicesPipeTimeout, and clicking Enter.

  4. Click Decimal, enter the new timeout value in milliseconds, and then click OK (the default timeout period is 30000 milliseconds)
  5. Restart the computer.

Step 5) Attempt to Install the ProfileUnity console again.

Step 6) Import the configuration or restore the ProfileUnity database.
