Problem:

Why on XP does the UX report for Windows 7 compatibility show the CPU as Pentium III Xeon

Symptoms:

Report shows CPU as Xeon thus Windows 7 Compatibility report shows them as non-compatible.

Possible Resolution(s):

This is a known issue with Microsoft Windows Xp WMI and not a Liquidware Labs issue.

It is well documented in a knowledge base article KB952978 available at this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/952978/en-us.

Basically, WMI on XP does not report the last few bits on information needed to correctly identify the CPUs so whatever WMI reports is incorrect on XP. So this is NOT a Liquidware Labs related issue but an issue that is related to how WMI reports information.

As official support for Windows XP is being terminated in April 2014, this will NOT be fixed by Microsoft.
