Problem:
After a certain amount of time, all FlexApp packages mounted by a user seem to disappear and the issue is only corrected by restarting the system.
This issue occurs when a user mounts a set of FlexApp packages and disconnects or logs off without performing the reverse playback process. This mainly affects RDS and AVD systems but may also be seen on desktops that don't force-logoff disconnected sessions. After 10 hours (default) since the last time the user's authentication token was renewed, the user's connections to any file shares will be dropped by the file server unless they are logged back in when that happens to occur.
Other behavioral oddities can be observed as well, such as:
- Start menu was not functional
- Log in to the Microsoft applications again, but the apps still don't work properly
- Links on the desktop had disappeared
- Applications in the task list were without icons
Resolution:
To address the aspects of the issue that directly affect FlexApp packages, leverage the ProfileUnity client tools as a service to mount all packages at boot in conjunction with FlexApp Cloaking to maintain the ability to grant or deny access to FlexApps by users based on filtering.
Please refer to the respective sections in the User Guide for more information on layering FlexApps at boot and enabling/configuring FlexApp Cloaking:
- Setting Up Application Layering at the OS Level Using VHDX FlexApp Packages
- Configuration Modules: Main (refer to Enable Cloaking for on-boot FlexApps)
