FlexApp Playback and capture issues during capture on 6.8 FlexApp Packaging console

Product: ProfileUnity

Product Version: 6.8.0

Expires on: 365 days from publish date

Updated: March 21, 2019

Problem:

MSI issues during capture on FlexApp Packaging console. Some Packages will fail to install/capture with errors. Also some FlexApps will fail to play back with ProfileUnity 6.8 client after upgrade from earlier version of ProfileUnity.

Symptoms:

Packages will throw different errors during capture. No FlexApp Packages played back on the user's desktop with ProfileUnity 6.8 Client.

Possible Resolution(s):

On the base image where the ProfleUnity 6.8 is installed:

1) Stop 'Liquidware Labs Container Service'

A) From x64.zip extract and overwrite VirtFsService.exe, VirtFsService.exe.config and VirtRegModule.dll located in C:\Program Files\ProfileUnity\FlexApp\ContainterService\x64

B) From x86.zip extract and overwrite VirtFsService.exe, VirtFsService.exe.config and VirtRegModule.dll located in C:\Program Files\ProfileUnity\FlexApp\ContainterService\x86

FPC Console where ProfileUnity 6.8 FlexApp Packaging console is installed:

1) Stop 'Liquidware Labs Container Service'

A) From x64.zip, extract and overwrite VirtFsService.exe, VirtFsService.exe.config and VirtRegModule.dll located in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Liquidware Labs\FlexApp Packaging Console\VirtFsService\x64

B) From x86.zip, extract and overwrite VirtFsService.exe, VirtFsService.exe.config and VirtRegModule.dll located in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Liquidware Labs\FlexApp Packaging Console\VirtFsService\x86

Client tools can be patched before installation of ClientTools on client machines/servers or before upgrading from older version of ProfileUnity to 6.8

A) They can be patched by replacing the same files (from x64.zip) located within netlogon\profileunity\flexapp.zip\ContainerService\x64\

B) They can be patched by replacing the same files (from x86.zip) located within netlogon\profileunity\flexapp.zip\ContainerService\x86\

After applying patch to the client tools the older packages should not have to be repackaged. However newer packages which were packaged on ProfileUnity 6.8 Packaging console which are not playing back properly might need to be repackaged again.

Note: This patch will be part of ProfileUnity 6.8.1
